Prospects for the Development of Kumis Farms in Southern Kazakhstan Discussed in Taraz

On April 23, a round table on the topic «Organization of Large and Medium-Sized Kumis Farms in Southern Kazakhstan» was held in the assembly hall of the Zhambyl branch of KazSRVI LLP (Taraz).

The event was organized within the framework of the program-targeted funding of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024–2026 (BR22887106) titled «Application of molecular genetic methods for horse genetic resources management optimization and efficient horse breeding innovative technologies development». The program is led by Indira Beishova, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Commercialization at Zhangir Khan University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, and Professor.

The round table brought together representatives of peasant farms, researchers, and students of the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Specialties of the Sherkhan Murtaza International Taraz University.

The moderator was the program executor, Candidate of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Kh.A.Aubakirov. The agenda focused on key issues in the development of modern horse breeding. Participants discussed effective approaches to organizing herd horse fattening, technologies for improving meat productivity, issues of improving breeding and selection work, as well as practical ways to reduce production costs in kumis farms. Insightful presentations were delivered by Professor Kh. A. Aubakirov and Master of Biology M. Seitbekova. It is also worth noting the students of the department, who demonstrated a high level of training and strong interest in scientific research.

Special attention was given to the practical significance of the proposed solutions. The meeting concluded with a constructive exchange of views aimed at implementing modern technological approaches in breeding and kumis farms.

It should be emphasized that this round table meets one of the key objectives of the program – the pilot implementation of research results and the dissemination of knowledge among potential users, the scientific community, and the general public. The round table served as an effective platform for dialogue between science and industry, confirming the relevance of integrating scientific developments into agricultural practice and outlining new directions for the development of productive horse breeding in the southern regions of Kazakhstan.
