Their fulfill civic duty

The staff of Zhangir khan university offers its assistance in connection with the emergency situation in our region.

Since the outbreak of the emergency, a special headquarters has been established at the university, consisting of faculty, staff and student governments. At this critical hour, realizing their responsibility and civic duty, Zhangir khan university staff, students of the «Military department», volunteers, students living in dormitories, help in raising dams on the riverbank, strengthening defense in flood-prone areas, preparing evacuation sites. Our volunteers are involved daily in filling sandbags, raising the bed of the Ural river passing through the village of Zashagan, unloading humanitarian aid that has arrived in our region from trucks and distributing it to the population.

University teachers together with students, delivered food and household supplies to persons stationed at the evacuation post at the «Arman» martial arts club in the village of Zachagansk. And young teachers of the Polytechnic institute organized humanitarian assistance in the form of food and clothing to families located in an evacuation center in the village of Podstepnoye in the Terektinsky district. In general, more than 200 people are voluntarily involved in volunteer work from the WKATU on a permanent basis. As a result, with the introduction of the state of emergency, about 2,500 employees and students were involved in these works. In general, these works will continue until the threat of flooding disappears.

In order to support the injured fellow countrymen, the university staff voluntarily transferred a one-day salary and contributed to a noble cause. That is, funds totaling 3,810,564 (three million eight hundred ten thousand five hundred sixty-four) tenge were transferred to the private fund «Akzhayik». A number of employees also provided direct financial assistance to the injured relatives, fellow countrymen and colleagues.

Evacuation sites for 100 people are also ready for temporary accommodation of the flood-affected population. Work is still underway to allocate additional evacuation sites.
