Zhangir Khan University hosted debates among university students, colleges and schoolchildren dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence and the 170th anniversary of the Kazakh poet and akyn Jambyl Jabayev. This is the first tournament in the region, which was held in two leagues – “Beta” and “Alpha”. Previously, the debates were held separately by universities, colleges and schools. The main goal of such events is to unite all debaters of the region, to establish joint work and friendly relations.
– Such events are necessary in order to raise the status of debaters, clubs, to form a civic position of young people and give spiritual education. After all, students should not only receive knowledge, but also actively participate in public work. In addition, we are not limited to the university, but we cover schoolchildren and students of special educational institutions,” said Askhat Okshebayev, director of the Center for the Development of Youth Initiatives.
In general, there are two large discussion centers in the region, one is the Rukh center at our university, the second is the Akikat center at the M.Utemisov WKU. Both centers hold many different events.
– Now there are more than fifty debaters working in our center. Freshmen were recently accepted. We are preparing second-year students for republican competitions. Last year we took part in the republican tournament of the University “Turan” in Almaty. It was a great experience for our students. I also want to add that it is planned to hold debates at the republican level from November 17 to 19. It is expected that 32 factions will take part in it. I wish the participants good luck! – shared the president of the discussion center “Rukh” Alisher Kenzheshev.
Today, students, schoolchildren and college students from the cities of Uralsk and Aksai gathered at the discussion platform. A total of 26 teams took part. Zhangir Khan University was represented by 5 teams of 1st and 2nd year students. And the jury consisted of 3rd and 4th year students of the Rukh Center.
