Updating educational programs

«Quality education» is one of the 17 sustainable development goals set by the United Nations for the period up to 2030. «Quality education» – as the basis of a decent life – guarantees success in a professional environment and in society. The factors of assessing the quality of education are: the content of the educational program; methods and quality of teaching; availability of modern educational technologies, including digital ones; learning outcomes. All these aspects are included in the content of the educational program and require regular updates.

To this end, on February 26-27, 2025, the Department of Education Management and Monitoring held discussion events on updating the university’s educational programs. The heads of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs participated in the design of educational programs aimed at identifying professionally significant competencies, determining the relationship between learning outcomes and assessment criteria, and determining resource requirements.

Using the marketing tool “benchmarking”, an algorithm has been developed to study and analyze the successful experience of other universities included in the TOP 500 most reputable educational rankings QS by Subject and THE by Subject.

Methodological recommendations on updating educational programs were also discussed at a training organized with the participation of an expert and developer of educational programs of the NCRVO EOM RK, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, associate Professor Skiba M.A. In her speech, she analyzed the statistics and features of programs included in the “Register of Educational programs” of the NCRVO EOM RK, drew attention to current trends and presented an algorithm for developing educational programs based on the Atlas of New Professions and Competencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the discussion, comparative analyses of educational programs in the areas of personnel training were conducted: agriculture, industry, oil and gas sector, economics, etc., including university educational programs included in the “Register of Educational Programs” of the NCRVO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The participants of the training asked questions about the development of new innovative and updating existing educational programs, professional standards, accreditation of updated programs, etc., and received detailed answers to all questions.
