A research and development competition is held annually at Zhangir Khan University. In the 2024-2025 academic year, work was also organized to conduct the qualifying stage of the R&D competition at the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Agrotechnology.
A total of 20 papers were reviewed by the institute. Currently, the official I stage of the republican research and development competition has been completed, the winners and applicants for participation in the II interuniversity stage of the research and development competition have been determined. In the intra–university competition, 8 students took the first places, 7-second places, and 4-third places.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, Zhangir Khan University is serving as the base university for the Republican Student Research Competition (NIRS) in the educational program “Veterinary Sanitation”.
As part of the “Veterinary Sanitation” educational program, 15 student research papers were submitted to the annual Republican Student Research Competition (NIRS): West Kazakhstan Innovative-Technological University – 1 submission, Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynov – 2 submissions, Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S. Seifullin – 4 submissions, Kazakh National Agrarian Research University – 6 submissions, West Kazakhstan Agrarian-Technical University named after Zhangir Khan – 2 submissions.
