Food technologies and processing productions higher school

The revival of the economy of the West Kazakhstan region, associated with the development of the meat, dairy, and confectionery industries, led to the opening of new technical specialties at the West Kazakhstan Agrarian and Technical University named after Zhangir Khan. The department specializing in food production was established in July 2006.

Since 2012, a master’s degree in the specialty 6M073500 – “food safety” has been opened on the basis of the food production industry. Undergraduates in the field of “food production” were actively engaged in scientific work.

Classes are held on 4 bachelor’s degree programs in the fields of “food production and standardization and certification”:

6B07200– Food technology;
6B07201– Technology of processing industries;
6B07203– Food safety;
6B07500– Standardization and certification (by industry)

According to the 2nd Master ‘s degree educational programs:

7M07201– Technology of processing industries;
7M07203– Food safety;

All educational levels have state licenses.

The higher school consists of 18 teachers, including 10 full-time, 5 internal part-time and 3 freelance (from production). Of them: 1 – associate professor, 4 – Candidates of Sciences; 4 – PhD doctors; 9 – masters. Teachers actively participate in various international conferences, scientific seminars, internships. The exchange of scientific and pedagogical personnel and internships of young scientists from near and far abroad are constantly carried out.

At the Republican Student Subject Olympiad, students presented test questions, laboratory work and work on the protection of personal essays, students of our university showed excellent results.

11 teams took part in the specialty 5B072800 – “Technology of processing industries”, including our team was awarded a Diploma of the II degree.

According to the results of the II stage of the republican research and Development competition, held in May 2022 at the M. H. Dulati Taraz Regional University, students trained under the guidance of Ayan Zharilkasinovich in the specialty 5B072700 -“Food technology” were awarded a Diploma of the first degree for scientific work.

In 2022, at Almaty Technological University, following the results of the II stage of the XIV Republican Subject Olympiad among students of organizations of higher and postgraduate education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Zhangir Khan ZKATU team took the third place. Also, according to the personal results of the participants, the second place was taken by the 3rd year student of the PP-31 group Zhalgasbayeva Maral Temirbolatovna. In 2023, at Almaty Technological University, following the results of the II stage of the XV Republican Subject Olympiad among students of organizations of higher and postgraduate education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Zhangir Khan ZKATU team took the second place. Also, according to the personal results of the participants, Daria Kobzar, a 3rd year student of the PPP – 32 group, took the second place.

According to internal academic mobility, students were sent to exchange knowledge at the M. Auyezov South Kazakhstan University, Almaty Technological University, and the State University named after M. Auyezov.Shakarima G. Semey, Kostanay State University named after A. Baitursynov, S. Seifullin Agrarian University.

A student of the agrotechnological Institute under the educational program 6В07500- «Standardization, certification and metrology» Baurzhanov Zhangirkhan in the 2023-2024 academic year was sent to study at the University of Lodz (Republic of Poland) on academic performance.

A bilateral agreement has been signed with the Belarusian State University of Food and Chemical Technologies, and a system of double-degree education has been introduced. A graduate student of the educational program 7M07201 – « Тechnologies of processing industries» Aidan Bekbusinov is studying on this issue.

Two teachers of the agrotechnological Institute became holders of state grants within the framework of the 500 Scientists project.

Currently, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Torebek Baybatyrov works at the Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University in Minsk on the topic «Мodern effective technologies of feed production» (scientific supervisor, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Doctor of Economics, Professor Nikolai Stepanovich Yakovchik).
