Today, a solemn event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory was held at Zhangir khan university.The event, titled “Descendants of a Glorious Nation – Brave Souls” or “Tribute to Heroes”, was organized with the participation of the Chairman of the Board – Rector of the University, Askar Nametov, Chairman of the West Kazakhstan Regional Maslikhat, Murat Mukayev, Deputy Akim of Uralsk city Aslan Tapishev, Afghan war veteran Sergey Pungin, city maslikhat deputy Nurbolat Ismagulov, Akim of Zhaqangansky village Akkali Aubekerov, as well as university professors and students.
Opening the ceremony, rector Askar Mirzakhmetovich emphasized that the heroic deeds of the older generation, who gave us peace and tranquility, serve as a vivid example for today’s youth. Letters of appreciation from the regional Akim were presented to military department instructors who foster patriotism in young people — retired lieutenant colonels Manas Alimov and Kalesh Kangeldeyev, as well as Ramin Zhumagaliev, and retired majors Alexander Morugov and Edilbek Musakov.
Students from the military department then demonstrated their training by impressing the audience with tactical maneuvers. Attendees also had the opportunity to explore an exhibition of military equipment and weaponry. Currently, around 500 students are enrolled in the military department of WKATU, which trains reserve officers and sergeants.
