On July 4-5, seminars on technology commercialization and innovation support were held at Zhangir Khan WKATU. The main participants of the event were more than twenty representatives of the most active business entities of the West Kazakhstan region from various sectors of the region’s economy.
The event was organized by a team of participants in the project to improve the commercialization of research results at Zhangir Khan WKATU, carried out as part of the implementation of the grant program “Communications between universities of the USA and Kazakhstan” (UniLinks).
During the seminars, the head of the technology commercialization and business incubation office Gulshat Ayesheva, introduced the participants to the basics of technology commercialization and its features in Kazakhstan, specific examples of how to commercialize technologies and document processes, as well as the services of Zhangir Khan WKATU to support innovation and possible areas of cooperation with business partners to commercialize the results of scientific research research and scientific and technological partnership in general. The speaker also spoke about the forms and mechanisms of state support for innovation and various types of innovative grants for business and science.
Its participants and winners shared their experience in preparing applications for the grant financing competition and the successful results of commercialization projects: Bauyrzhan Iztaev, Rimma Tazhibaeva («Bal Halal» LLP, Almaty), Raushan Mukhazhanova («Merey M» LLP, Abai region), professor, doctor of technical sciences Sarsenbek Montaev (Uralsk) and others. According to their deep conviction, modern approaches to solving the problems of import substitution of domestic high-tech products based on the commercialization of research results should be in the focus of attention of Kazakhstan business today.
The participants of the seminars were also introduced to some of the university’s innovation infrastructure facilities, in particular, the test center and the pilot production site, offering a number of innovative technologies/products and services.
It is important to note that the issues of technology commercialization and business incubation are currently the focus of the university’s development strategy. It is planned to actively involve potential business partners in scientific and technical activities and effective cooperation with them.
