Practice-oriented lesson in the specialty “Chemical technology of organic substances”

On October 13, 2021, a practice-oriented lesson (POZ) was held in the specialty “Chemical technology of organic substances” in the disciplines “Chemotology of fuels and analysis of oil and gas” and “Improved and catalytic processes for the production of petroleum fuel” West Kazakhstan branch of JSC “National Center for Expertise and Certification” in the laboratory of petroleum products.

During the practice-oriented lessons, Nursultan Sarsengaliyev, the leading process engineer of NaCEkS JSC, voiced the safety rules in the laboratory and introduced the students to the physicochemical methods of analyzing the quality of fuels: determination of the fractional composition on the ARNS device, water by the Dean-Stark method, active sulfur (XFA), coking, volatility, density, kinematic viscosity, motor octane, flammability, filtration coefficient, chromaticity, etc. The laboratory of petroleum products is equipped with highly efficient modern equipment and conducts analyzes to determine the main indicators of petroleum fuels: gasoline, diesel, fuel oil, etc.

Conducting practice-oriented lessons in the disciplines “Chemotology of fuels and analysis of oil and gas” and “Improved and catalytic processes for the production of petroleum fuel” contributes to the formation of knowledge among students of technical specialties in the theory and practice of rational use of motor fuels, independently conduct an experiment, determine the class of petroleum products, experimentally evaluate quality and make recommendations on the use of this sample of petroleum products.
