At the West Kazakhstan agrarian and technical university named after Zhangir khan hosted the “Engineers forum” for the first time.
This event is organized by the «сareer and business partnership» center of the university together with «Shell Kazakhstan». The forum was attended by the university administration, representatives of «Shell Kazakhstan», engineers and management of international engineering companies, university students, as well as high school students.
The purpose of the forum-is to create a dialogue platform where future chemical engineers met and discussed the prospects of the profession with specialists of international companies, and high school students were able to learn about the engineering profession in general. Within the framework of the vacancies-exhibition organized during the forum, students and schoolchildren also learned how to correctly compose a resume and answer interviews when hiring. Within the framework of the forum, three teams from the university presented their project work in the field of energy efficiency, water purification and improving the efficiency of a drilling well. The winning team received a grant in the amount of 1 million tenge to create a prototype of its project from «Shell Kazakhstan». Other participants were provided with certificates for career coaching from international experts.
Rector of the university Askar Nametov noted: «Today, for the first time, the “Forum of Engineers» has been organized at the university, bringing together qualified specialists of the oil and gas sector, senior students studying in technical specialties. I would like to thank the employees of «Shell Kazakhstan» who supported such an initiative, the members of the advisory council headed by the heads of international engineering companies who are actively involved in optimizing educational programs of chemical engineering. I am also glad that schoolchildren participating in career guidance training in chemical engineering within the framework of the «Zhastech» project came to this forum.
In her speech, Aigul Barmenkulova, Director of corporate relations at «Shell Kazakhstan», noted that at meetings with representatives of domestic business, the Head of State pays priority attention to the effectiveness of design and engineering works of international engineering companies in the direction of attracting local specialists and companies. «Therefore, as part of our voluntary social investments, we are implementing projects aimed at the development of human capital»- she stressed.
Recall that, in november 2022, Zhangir khan ZKATU and «Shell Kazakhstan» signed a memorandum of cooperation, under which the company shares its knowledge and experience in the field of chemical engineering – a key part of production. The company also cooperates with the university to bring the curriculum of the faculty of chemical engineering in line with international standards.
It is worth noting that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of Zhangir Khan University, and 30 years of «Shell’s» activity in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
