Objects of research, development or design: Domestic horse breeds (mugalzhar, kushum, Kazakh breed: Jabe, Naiman and Adai types)
The purpose of the project / program: To reresequence the complete genome of domestic horse breeds (Mugalzhar, Kushum, Kazakh breed: Jabe, Naiman and Adai types), to identify specific genetic variants under selections pressure, to search for breed-specific sections of genome to increase the genetic potential, early prediction of their breeding value, conservation and improvement of genetic resources.
1. To form a sample of the studied groups of domestic horse breeds
2. To carry out the whole genome resequencing and its bioinformatic analysis
3. To compare the distribution of heterozygosity in the genomes of domestic horse breeds with other breeds
4. To determine single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), insertions/deletions (INDEL), copy number variations (CNV), structural variations (SV) in the genome of the studied groups of domestic horse breeds
5. To establish possible functional variants of the genome sequence responsible for a certain phenotype
6. To identify unique or specific genetic variants and create a database of genomic variations of domestic horse breeds
7. Identification of unique miRNA transcription profiles in different domestic horse breeds
8. To develop recommendations for assessing the genetic potential of domestic horse breeds, early prediction of their breeding value, conservation and improvement of genetic resources
The complete genome of domestic horse breeds has been resequenced and its bioinformatic analysis has been carried out.The distribution of heterozygosity in the genomes of domestic horse breeds was compared with other breeds.Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), insertions/deletions (INDEL), copy number variations (CNV), and structural variations (SV) in the genome of the studied groups of domestic horse breeds were determined.Possible functional variants of the genome sequence responsible for a certain phenotype have been established. It was revealed that the distribution of heterozygosity in domestic breeds is more variable between different parts of the genome, while in foreign breeds heterozygosity is more evenly distributed. SNP, INDEL, CNV and SV have been found, which may be associated with differences in the phenotypic characteristics and health of horses. The analysis of genetic variants in the genomes of domestic horse breeds revealed a significant number of mutations, both known and new. These variants influence a variety of biological processes, including growth, development, immune response, and metabolism. The detected SNP, INDEL and structural variations can be used to improve breeding programs and increase animal resistance to diseases.
As a result of the project implementation, there will be:
– a sample of the studied groups of domestic horse breeds was formed
– the complete genome was resequenced and its bioinformatic analysis was carried out
– the distribution of heterozygosity in the genomes of domestic horse breeds was compared with other breeds
– single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP), insertions/deletions (INDEL), copy number variations (CNV), structural variations (SV) in the genome of the studied groups of domestic horse breeds were determined
– possible functional variants of the genome sequence responsible for a certain phenotype have been established
– unique or specific genetic variants have been identified and a database of genomic variations of domestic horse breeds has been created
– unique miRNA transcription profiles have been identified in different domestic horse breeds
– a recommendation has been developed to assess the genetic potential of domestic horse breeds, early prediction of their breeding value, conservation and improvement of genetic resources.
Degree of implementation: These studies will allow us to create promising developments for planning breeding work, programs for breeding domestic horse breeds.
