Gender equality

SDG 5. Gender equality consists of 12 national indicators (https://stat.gov.kz/ru/sustainable-development-goals/goal/5/). For example, the share of women in the national Parliament (Mazhilis) decreased from 27.4% (2018-2021) to 18.4% (2023), and the share of women who were granted agricultural land decreased from 2.21% (2018) to 1.63% (2023). The value of indicator 5.b.1 “Percentage of people with mobile phones aged 6 years and older” increased from 87.9% to 92.8%. According to this indicator, the gender difference is minimal. In 2023, this figure was 93.4% for men and 92.2% for women. In 2023, the next Action Plan on Human Rights and the Rule of Law was adopted by Presidential Decree, which provides for measures to promote gender equality and eliminate discrimination against women. As part of the Action Plan, positions of freelance advisers to the akim on gender equality from among civil society, experts and the business community have been established in 19 regions of the country.
