SDG 6. Clean water and sanitation consists of 10 national indicators (https://stat.gov.kz/ru/sustainable-development-goals/goal/6/). There is an improvement in a number of indicators. In 2023, compared with 2018, access to water supply services in urban areas increased from 94.5% to 98.9%, and in rural areas – from 59.9% to 96.6%. The number of cleaning facilities has increased from 211 to 290 units (2015-2023). The share of water bodies with good quality increased from 2015 – 9.3% to 2023 – 42.5%. Nevertheless, there may be a risk of water shortages by 2029 due to excessive consumption and losses.
For the rational use of water, the Zhangir Khan University supports the reuse of water. The University’s infrastructure ensures that all visitors have access to hygiene and sanitation facilities.
