In 1965, the Agronomy Faculty separated from it and was initially headed by Associate Professor Alexey Konkin.

The faculty became the only educational and scientific center in the region for training highly qualified specialists in the field of agricultural agronomy.

During the formative years of the Agronomy Faculty, after the cultivation of virgin and fallow lands, the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan faced the need for further development of the scientific foundations of the regional farming system and its effective implementation in production. Therefore, the need to train highly qualified specialists and to strengthen scientific research activities was directly linked to the tasks of developing the national economy of the republic.

In connection with the increasing number of agricultural specialties, the Faculty of Agronomy was established in 1966.

A great deal of energy, knowledge, and dedication was invested in the establishment and development of the faculty by its deans —Associate Professors V.N. Slesarev, V.P. Sogurenko, V.F.
