In 1963, the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization was organized. Now this faculty is a polytechnic institute. The primary task of the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization was the training of highly qualified specialists in the mechanization of agricultural production for 4 regions of Western Kazakhstan (Uralsk, Aktobe, Guryev and Kyzylorda).
The first dean of the faculty was appointed Candidate of Mathematical Sciences, associate professor Khairulla Kenzhegulov. Kh.Kenzhegulov worked a lot for the formation of the educational process at the faculty as an initiative leader, qualified teacher and organizer of the higher school. Under his leadership, the creation of an engineering and pedagogical team began, new departments were created, classrooms and specialized laboratories were equipped.
Since 1965, Pavel Kulpin, Candidate of Technical Sciences, has been appointed Dean of the Faculty. P.Kulpin created favorable conditions for the creative work of teachers and students. In the early years, the faculty had: departments of physics (Head of the department Ya.Shumsky), Higher mathematics (Kh.Kenzhegulov), general technical disciplines (Kh.Sagnaev), agricultural mechanization (A.Mitsenko).
In later times, the departments were divided, merged and formed new ones. Teachers and students of the faculty conducted training sessions in special disciplines. The testing facilities, equipment and instruments of the laboratory for the repair and operation of machines created in those years were subsequently used and served as the basis for equipping the workshop for the repair of educational and experimental economic machines.
In 1969, Sergey Dzhubaev was appointed dean of the faculty, who was one of the organizers of the faculty’s transition to a new campus. Since 1977, the dean of the faculty is Yuri Bentsler. Along with administrative activities, Y.Benzler was successfully engaged in scientific work. With his direct participation, the faculty was the first to organize a movement at the Institute for collective responsibility in study, discipline, everyday life and socially useful work. The initiative to introduce the principle of collective contracting into the educational process is an experimental initiative of the university management in search of new methods in the technology of organizing the educational process.
In 1983, 10 specialized departments worked in the educational process, in which 88 teachers worked, including 30 candidates of sciences. The faculty includes the departments «Tractors and automobiles», «Agricultural transport», «Repair and operation of transport and tractor fleet», «Labor protection and industrial training», «Mechanization of livestock farms», etc. From 1987 to 1993, a graduate student of the Leningrad Shipbuilding Institute, Andesh Abdrakhmanov, worked as the dean of the faculty. From 1993 to 1999, the faculty was headed by Akhmet Murzagaliev. From 2000 to 2020, the faculty was headed by Candidates of Sciences Yuri Bentsler, Ranil Japarov, Rakhmetulla Kusainov, Rashid Shirvanov, Ermek Aitaliev, Askar Bakushev. In September 2019, the Polytechnic Faculty was transformed into a Polytechnic Institute.
Since March 2020, the Polytechnic Institute has been headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences Zhanna Kubasheva. The Polytechnic Institute includes the «General Technical Training Center» as well as the higher schools «Engineering and Engineering Protection» and «Electrical Engineering and Automation». Currently, the Institute trains specialists in 11 educational programs of higher and postgraduate education. Teachers of the Institute conduct lectures, practical classes for students in all technical areas. Among them are Doctors of Sciences: E.Aitaliev, B.Nuralin, Candidates of sciences: R.Dzhaparov, Sh.Makhmudova, N.Zheksembieva, E.Dzhanaliev, Zh.Kubasheva, M.Duisenov, S.Khairullina, K.Okas, D.Dzhaparova, G.Saifutdinova, doctors PhD: A.Sarsenov, A.Ibraev, E.Yerbaev, Associate Professor of the Higher Attestation Commission M.Braliev, as well as Masters of Technical and Pedagogical Sciences.
Over the past five years, he has improved the level of academic education, defended his PhD dissertations A.Sarsenov, A.Ibraev, E.Yerbaev, S.Khairullina, K.Okas, D.Dzhaparova, G.Sayfutdinova at universities of the Russian Federation. In addition, two teachers are currently preparing to defend their dissertations for the degree of Doctor of PhD and four teachers are studying at the postgraduate school of the Russian Federation.
The modular system, rating control, interactive teaching methods are actively used in the educational process: multimedia, the Internet, electronic textbooks, electronic training and monitoring programs, audio and video materials. The quality control of training sessions is carried out by the educational and methodological bureau of the Institute and higher schools through mutual participation and conducting open lessons in accordance with a pre-established schedule discussed at meetings of Higher Schools.
In order to bring the classes closer to the production activity, a certain part of the practical classes is held in the branches of the higher schools of the institute of «ZapKazREK» LLP, «Ural Transformer Plant» LLP, etc. The students of the Institute undergo practical training at industrial enterprises of the city: «ZapKazREK» LLP, «Transformer Plant» LLP, «KEGOC» JSC, «Uralskagroremmash» JSC, «Zenit» Plant, «Gidropribor Research Institute», «Zhaiyk Zhylukuat» JSC, «Ural Poultry Farm» LLP, etc.
The Institute conducts a constant exchange of scientific and pedagogical personnel and internships of young scientists in the countries of the far and near abroad (Moscow, Saratov, Samara, Orenburg, etc.). Young scientists, teachers who actively gain experience, participate in scientific conferences and in the future will adequately take the baton from the hands of their mentors work at the Institute.
