Faculty of Humanities, Sports and Military Training

The university’s development strategy prioritizes the training of future specialists by attracting talented, creative students. It will be realized through the efficient organization of career guidance, developing research skills, and fostering a readiness to create tools for high-quality, innovative education in their professional activities. To implement these strategic development directions, the university decided at the beginning of the 2025-2026 academic year to review the potential of its specialized and experienced faculty and restructure its divisions to achieve the planned professional development objectives. As a result of the restructuring, three priority university divisions were consolidated: the Center for General Development and Professional Education for Teacher Training, the Center for Language Development, and the Military Department. These divisions will foster the development moral and patriotic qualities among future teachers. The joint efforts of these teachers are aimed at ensuring high-quality professional and pedagogical activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle among students. These measures formed the basis for the creation the core of a new division—the Faculty of Humanitarian, Sport, and Military Training.

The organization of educational and teaching work, implementation of the faculty’s management are entrusted to Associate Professor, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, K.A. Baydaliyev. Responsibility for the formation of the student body, implementation of educational and teaching work, implementation of the educational and teaching process in collaboration with advisors and tutors, and the implementation of methods for monitoring and improving the quality of education are entrusted to the Chair of the Academic Committee for Educational Programs, Deputy Dean, Senior Lecturer, Master Zh.Zh. Gabbasova.

The historical development of these structural divisions is not limited to the implementation of the educational and teaching process of the educational institution, but also includes the training of young specialists, the continuous improvement of their scientific and pedagogical qualifications, the creation of material resources, the promotion of scientific research achievements in the public sphere, the demonstration of the competitiveness of young specialists, and the training of a significant number of scientists, teachers, and qualified managers who have made significant contributions to the development of the university.

One of the university’s key components is  Rukhani Zhangyru Center, which is joined with the Artistic, Technological, and Vocational Education Higher School in the 2024-2025 academic year.  “Rukhani Zhangyru Center” has been developing since the founding of our educational institution. Following the opening of the West Kazakhstan Agricultural Institute and the Department of Social Sciences in 1963, there was established the Department of Philosophy and Scientific Communism. In 1968, Department of Philosophy and Scientific Communism was separated from the Department of Social Sciences. In 2018,  Department of History of Kazakhstan and Social Sciences and Humanities was renamed “Rukhani Zhangyru Center”.

The initial stage of training subject teachers with educational programs in the pedagogical field began in 2008 with the educational activities of teaching staff  of the university’s Department at Professional and Technical Education within the educational programs  “Vocational Training” and “Basic Military Training”. In June 2020, by order of the university rector, the task of training teaching staff was assigned to the Institute of Economics, Information Technology, and Professional Education. The Higher School of Artistic, Technological, and Professional Education was established within the institute to fulfill this task.

The steps to establish the language department, integrated into the faculty, were initiated by the Chairman of the Board and Rector of  NPJSC West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University, in accordance with Order № 28, § 5, dated February 12, 2018, on the establishment “Language Development Center” based on joining “Kazakh and Russian Languages” ​​and “Foreign Languages” ​​departments. The Department  of  Foreign and Russian Languages ​​started working at West Kazakhstan Agricultural Institute in 1963, when it was founded. In February 2018, this department was reorganized into “Language Development Center”, which encompasses all of the university’s language disciplines. Since January 2020, the Center has been headed by Senior Lecturer, Master of Pedagogical Science A.T. Iskaliyeva.

The Military Department at Zhangir khan West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University was established  by the order №551, Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated May 17, 2004. Since December 2023, the head of the department has been Colonel (Reserve) Ruslan Kazbekovich Dosmukhambetov.

Currently, the faculty consists of 1 Doctor of Science (D.Sc.), professor, 7 Candidates of Science (Associate Professors), 2 Ph.D., 1 Candidate of Science (C.S.), 38 senior lecturers, including 16 Master’s , and 31 lecturers, including 11 Master’s who hold  as senior lecturer positions. Four lecturers have been hired as additional staff from other educational institutions as senior lecturers, and two lecturers as lecturers. The teaching Staff of faculty consists of 62 lecturers, and 12 lecturers from other university departments hold additional teaching positions. 7 educational support workers provide support in providing the educational process with material and methodological resources.

The Faculty supports young teachers in enhancing the academic and pedagogical potential of its teaching staff and constantly focuses on improving their research qualifications. As part of this effort, two faculty members – R.M. Turdaliyev and N.S. Kuspanov – finished their doctoral studies in the Physical Education and Sport program in 2024, while two teachers -M.A. Suleimenov and M.S. Moldagaliyeva – study Doctoral degree in the Humanities.

Prominent  individuals are dedicated to ensuring high-quality education for students and supporting their learning and cognitive activities. Among them are renowned athletes who not only teach but also achieve high results in sports. These include N.K. Kolomoets, a renowned scientist and educator, two-time winner of the Asian Kettlebell Lifting Championship; K.D. Abishev,  Master of Sports of the USSR and senior lecturer; and N.E. Nysanov,  Honored Coach of Kazakhstan.

Ten senior instructors, three senior mid-level instructors, and two junior instructors train future teachers of basic military technology at the military department. The professional experience of reserve officers in military units of the Armed Forces is essential for imparting intellectual and practical skills to students.

The intellectual potential of the faculty provides educational services for the training of teachers in secondary educational institutions of the West Kazakhstan region – according to educational programs 6B01401 “Basic Military Training and Physical Education” (2008), 6B01405 – “Physical Education and Sports” (2022) 6B01404 – “Visual Arts, Art Work and Graphics” (2021), 2025-2026 academic year 6B01406 – “Labor Technology and Career Guidance”, 6B01407- “Basic Military Training”. The first two educational programs this academic year have successfully passed international and specialized accreditation for the second time. In turn, the military department trains reserve officers in the following specialties: combat use of combined arms units; units and formations; Combat employment of missile and artillery units, formations, and units; combat employment of engineer-sapper (engineer) units, formations, and units; planning and organizing territorial defense; organizing communications in the ground forces; operation and repair of automotive equipment; combat employment of general mortar units; ground artillery units; combat employment of units and formations; veterinary and sanitary examination. Military training for students is an additional form of education. The educational process consists of theoretical and practical courses, a training camp for young students, and professional internships for female military students. Female military students are enrolled in the reserve officer training program, specializing in “Communications Organization in the Ground Forces”. Military training under the reserve officer program is provided  both free of charge and on a fee-paying basis, while the reserve sergeant program is on a fee-paying basis.

 Zhangir Khan Sports Complex has modern facilities that allow the simultaneous practice in 12 sports. The sports complex includes a stadium, running tracks, gymnastics equipment, track and field, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, fitness, and togyzkumalak, as well as fitness and strength training rooms. Students enrolled in the Basic Military Training program conduct classes in their respective disciplines in the equipped classrooms of the military department and at a tactical training ground. The military department has a parade ground, a tactical platform, a rifle range, an engineering camp, a sports campus, an electronic interactive shooting range, military equipment, equipped classrooms, heavy combat vehicles, military equipment, and a library.

In the 2023 academic year, the training and production workshop was opened within the partnership of  West Kazakhstan Region Designers Association. In addition to training students in “Visual Arts, Artistic Work, and Graphics” and “Work Technology and Career Guidance” programs, the workshop also provides sewing services to university staff and city residents. Students in the academic visual arts courses are taught in dedicated training workshops, while courses in modern product design are held in computer labs. Material samples for sewing, woodworking, and metalworking are manufactured in the training and production workshops. Students gain practical skills both in the classroom and on machines equipped with modern digital technology.

Since 2024, the faculty has been operating individual psychological counseling and training rooms to provide social and psychological support to students, staff, and residents of the Zachagansk district.

The teaching staff contributes to solving problems in the social sciences and humanities, publishes research results in international and national scientific journals, educational and methodological manuals. Young scientist Dr. Dzhanguzhiyev M.S., Associate Professor  V.A. Esengaliyeva, senior lecturers D.S. Mutalova, G.S. Sarkulova, Associate Professor K.A. Baidalyiev, and Associate Professor T.K. Murzashev are working on publishing scientific monographs.

A system of interconnected actions and measures based on scientific achievements and advanced pedagogical experience in the specific context of educational work, aimed at comprehensively improving the qualifications and professional skills of each teacher, developing and enhancing the educational capabilities of the teaching staff, improving educational work, and bringing students to the appropriate level of education, upbringing, and personal development.

To achieve these goals, one of the priority areas is the comprehensive teaching of Kazakh, Russian, and English for students. We have collaborated with the training center “Destination” for over five years. To create the conditions for further English language learning, the course “Foreign Language 2” is taught to the second-year students.

The experienced teachers share their experience with students, engaging them in research. Undergraduate and graduate students participate in scientific and practical conferences, where they present the results of their research. Along with developing students’ professional knowledge and competencies, the faculty has 11 active student clubs: “Spirit”, “Religion”, “Fatima”, “Conscious Generation”, “Young Politician”,  “Young Researcher”, “Sniper”, “Visual Art”, “Kazakh Language and Culture”, “Speech Culture” and “English-Speaking Club”  where students have the opportunity to develop their personal qualities, improve their cognitive skills and increase their competitiveness in the labor market

Conducting scientific and methodological seminars, master classes, and problem-based lecture sessions jointly with the teaching staff of secondary city schools (№ 10, 20, 30, 47, 38, 50, 52) and social partnership sports schools (№ 2 sports boarding school, a martial arts school, and sports club for children and adults with disabilities) facilitates the exchange of experience among teachers.

The faculty develops students’ professional skills, which are further expanded through the Institute of Academic Mobility. The university sends students to specialized universities in Astana and Almaty for one semester to deepen and expand their competencies.

Among the students studying in the “Physical Education and Sports” and “Basic Military Training and Physical Education” programs are young athletes with high athletic achievements who are the pride of the university, the region, and Kazakhstan. In the 2nd-4th years, 57 students are candidates for the Candidate for Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, 14 students are candidates for the Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and one student is a Candidate for the Master of Sports of International Class in canoeing and kayaking – Maria Sergeevna Brovkova (World champion, Asian champion, and Olympic participant). Last academic year, at the Kazakhstan Championships, Ayan Kalmagambetov took second place in boxing; Imran Dinishev took third place in boxing; Izgali Beibarys took third place in track and field; and Aigali Meirim took third place in sport sambo.

Second-year student Ualiulla Maksat took third place at the World Short Track Speed ​​Skating Championships, Talapkali Merey took second place at the Arm-wrestling World Cup, and Zhanaris Serikov took first place at the International MMA Championships.

At the XIII Summer Universiade among students of  higher and postgraduate education institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan, our four students took second and third places.

The student body of the faculty is expanding every year with students who have high academic achievements. Last academic year, 362 students were enrolled in teacher training programs, and 284 first-year students were admitted for the 2025–2026 academic year. Among them are 46 Candidates for Master of Sports, 5 Masters of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and one student — Karina Akhmetovna Balmukhambetova —International Master of Sports in volleyball.

The university provides ongoing support to students who wish to pursue a career in sports, sending them to training camps and competitions. The opportunity for students to obtain a professional education, combined with ongoing participation in sports competitions, helps them hone their skills as specialists in their chosen field. This process also ensures the acquisition and integration of best practices in training young athletes.
