Institute of veterinary and agrotechnology

The institute of veterinary medicine and animal husbandry was established in 1963 as a zooengineering faculty. In 1982, it was reorganized into a zoo-veterinary faculty. In different years, the faculty was headed by luminaries of veterinary and animal husbandry sciences: Yu.A. Artemyev, M.M. Nuraliyev, G.S. Zubkov, A.R. Rustenov, B.A. Amanzholov, A.Z. Zinulin, G.K. .Moldashev, I.K.Ashetov, U.B.Taubaev, K.Zh.Kushaliyev, E.G.Nasambaev. The institute was headed by B. E. Nurgaliyev from 2017 to march 2020, and by I. N. Zhubantaev from 2020 to january 2022 from february 1, 2022, associate professor of the institute, V.Sc. B.E. led by Nurgaliev.

Since 1993, a post-graduate course has started working on the basis of the faculty, where young specialists and scientists, graduates of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry have received theoretical training and scientific-pedagogical training. In those years, the Dissertation Council for the defense of a thesis was created to obtain the degree of candidate of agricultural sciences, which included leading scientists, professors, doctors of agricultural sciences: K.K. In 1963, during the opening of the West Kazakhstan Agricultural Institute, the “Faculty of Agro-Economics” began to function under the leadership of associate professor R. Kh. Myasoutov. In 1965, the Faculty of “Agronomy” was separated and was initially headed by Associate Professor Alexey Konkin. The faculty was the only educational and scientific center in the region for the training of highly qualified specialists in the agronomic field of agriculture.

In the formative years of the Faculty of Agronomy, there was a need for further development of the scientific bases of the regional system of agriculture and its immediate introduction into production in the agriculture of Kazakhstan after the plowing of virgin and fallow lands. Therefore, the need to train highly qualified specialists and to strengthen scientific activity was combined with the tasks of developing the economy of the republic.

During the formation and development of the faculty, V.N. Slesarev, V.P. Sogurenko, V.F. Ryaboshkapov, N.V. Savvina, A.Ya. Bakaldins were able to use all their efforts, knowledge and experience during their service. Since 2000, due to the opening of new specialties within the West Kazakhstan State University and the increase in the number of students, the faculty was named “Agribusiness and Ecology”, and the faculty was headed by associate professor M.A. Gabdolov.

In the 2007-2008 academic year, the Faculty of “Agribusiness and Ecology” under the leadership of I.M. Fetisov, E.E. Brown, S.Zh. Rakhimgalieva, M.A. Gabdolov, T.A. Turganbaev, T.A. Bolekov the first graduates finished. Since 2007, the Faculty of “Veterinary Medicine and Agrobiotechnology” has been established within the West Kazakhstan Agrarian Technical University named after Zhangir Khan to unify general biology specialties, and K. Zh. Kushaliev, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, has been appointed as the dean of the faculty. Since 2009, due to the systematization of the management structure and the increase in the number of students, the faculty has become independent and received the name “Agronomy” faculty. Candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor S.Zh. Rakhimgalieva was appointed to the position of dean of the faculty. In 2015-2017, the faculty was headed by candidate of agricultural sciences, associate professor D.K. Tolegenova. In 2017-2019, the faculty was headed by candidate of agricultural sciences, faculty dean A.S. Tlepov. Since 2019, the faculty is called “Agro-technological Institute”. The institute was headed by M.K.Onaev, candidate of technical sciences, associate professor.
